NOTES FROM RICCARTON

(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 5. The last of the horses from Riccarton who are to race at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting went south last night, when F. A. Roberts left with John Gay, Debater and Lalla Meer, While F. D. Jones t6ok True way and the two-year-olds, Princess Anne, and Montezuma. Seven horses from here are engaged in the Dunedin Guineas. The stable mates Pensacola and Piccolo appeal, and they will not be handicapped if the ground is soft. Joygiver, though without form this season, won twice at Wingatui last season. Debater is a big fellow on the way to good deeds. In the McLean Stakes field there are eight youngsters from Riccarton. Major Argosy, Belle Leonne, Racilla, Eudora and the stable mates, Princess Anne and Montezuma—all have admirers. J. Olive has taken over the two-year-old Finalist, by Cambria Park—Lysis, for Mr F. W. White, who will also race the Solicitor General—Lady Darlington two-year-old filly. Finalist is a brother to Tiger Tan, who has won two sprint races in Auckland this season. Sir Taguc, a newcomer in A, B. Stove’s stabl’e, is working well and he will have his first race at Ranglora. He is a three-year-old colt by Gay Circle—Necessary, and he is owned on the West Coast. E. J. Jennings has in his team a wellgrown two-year-old colt by Defaulter from Charlotte Corday, the dam of St. Joachim. The youngster has not done much serious galloping and he will be gelded before he is raced. A. S. Ellis has made a start with Lady Tralee, a three-year-old by Leighon from Rose of Tralee.
