R.S.A. FINANCE

BALANCE SHEET ITEMS EXPLAINED Mr H. P. Kent, on behalf of Mr H. J. S. Grater (treasurer) presented a report to the quarterly meeting of the Oamaru R.S.A,, from the Finance Committee re-, garding items in last year’s balance sheet which the annual meeting required to be investigated. The items were as follows: General account, printing, stationery, and advertising, £57 19s lOd; postages, wires, bureau, etc., £2l 11s Id. Distress Fund: Printing, stationery, and advertising, £24 5s Gd; postages, wires, etc., £l7 11s 3d. The Finance Committee, stated Mr Kent, went into these items in great detail, and the members decided unanimously that these expenses were properly incurred and in every • way in order. The honorary auditor reported that these payments were correct. Telegrams and bureau fees were extremely light, but heavy expenditure in postages was necessitated by postal ballots. Members would appreciate that the figures for the Distress Fund were extremely light at a time when such matters as pensions, rehabilitation, army pay, etc., were being dealt with by the secretary, and urgency was essential. On the motion of Messrs H. C. Jeffery and W. Burdett, the report was confirmed.
