COUNCILLOR’S DUTIES
NAME DELETED FROM COMMITTEE Because his duties as chairman of the Otago Hospital Board would involve a good deal of his time, Cr D. G. McMillan applied to the City Council at >its meeting last night to have his name deleted from membership of the General Ccmmittee. Cr W. B. Taverner moved that the request be granted. The Mayor’(Mr D. C. Cameron) suggested that as the General Committee was considering altering the day of its meeting from Thursday to Tuesday, Cr McMillan might be prepared to hold over his request. Cr McMillan said that the reason he had made the application was that the chairmanship of the Hospital Beard would require a good deal of his time. Cr J. W. Munro seconded the motion. “Members of the City Council went to the poll kncwing ihey would have much work to do,” said Cr L. M. Wright, “and they should act on the committees to which they have been appointed.” He opposed the motion. The motion was carried on the voices.
