ROSLYN RATEPAYERS

MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the Roslyn and Kaikorai Ratepayers’ Association was held last night, and was attended by Messrs P. L. Ritchie (chairman), P. Findlay, M. Thomson, A. D. Sutherland, J. Hunter, A. Ellis, F. Sharpe, G. A. Laurenson, E. Sunderland, P. Delahunty, and the secretary, Mr J. Mathcson. The chairman referred to the recent flooding of the children’s play area with sewage, and it was decided that the matter should be discussed with the Drainage Beard engineer. Mr Hunter reported that the Fraser's Gully Baths were being renovated, and it was expected that the necessary work would be completed, in time for the opening of the new season. The committee decided to ask the Transport Committee of the City Council to replace the outworn bus timetable at the Kaikorai Valley terminus. It was decided to endeavour to have the dangerous corner at Fairfax and Wales streets improved. Members referred to the number of cars that were parked near this corner during football matches. Mr Delahunty drew attention to the mud which had accumulated under the ladder in the children’s playing area, and it was decided to endeavour to have a layer of turf placed there. Mr Ellis said that the association had asked the City Council three years ago for a new cattle route for the district for use on market days. This had not been granted, and yet, he said, it appeared that the Wakari Ratepayers’ Association was having some success with its representations in a similar direction. The chairman expressed regret that the secretary, Mr Matheson, was resigning in view of his impending departure from the district. Mr Hunter was appointed to fill the vacancy.
