TURKISH POLICY

MAY ACTIVELY ASSIST ALLIES MENEMENJOGLU’S RESIGNATION (Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 17. The Washington correspondent of the Herald-Tribune says that diplomatic circles consider that M. Meaemenjoglu’s resignation is an indication that Turkey has turned against Germany as the result of recent ‘Allied successes, and Turkey may- soon assume a more active part in the Allied war effort to ensure a place at the peace table. The Cairo correspondent of the New York Times says that Menemenjoglu was on bad personal terms with the British Foreign Secretary, Mr AnthAny Eden, and was reputedly so antiRussian that he favoured a German victory. Some sources expect him. to be replaced by the pro-Allied Turkish Ambassador to London, M. Rushdiaras.
