AMERICAN CASUALTIES
HEAVY AT BEACH-HEADS (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, June 17. Lieutenant-geneal D. N. Bradley announced that the United States Army casualties in France to midnight last night totalled 3283 killed. 12,600 wounded. He added that the casualties on the mainland beaches were higher than expected, but those on the Cherbourg Peninsula were lower than expected. General Bradley also announced that 8500 prisoners had evacuated' from the American beach-head, which is now absolutely secure. The Germans at present had 60 to 62 divisions that could be used against the Allied bridgehead. The Allied casualty lists in Normandy are regarded in Washington as light considering the number of men engaged and their accomplishments.
