HUTT RAILWAY

EXTENSION IN PROGRESS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 18. The Minister of Wofks (Mr,R. Semple) announced that a start had been made with railway work which would serve large new housing areas in the Hutt Valley. This is an extension of the present railway line from Waterloo to Nai Nai, a distance of one mile and 50 chains.

Mr Semple said the formation and ballasting had been commenced. The formation along this length was very easy, and shoilld be completed in a few weeks. The Railways Department would then follow on with the platelaying. Mr Semple said that plans for the station buildings and overbridges were in hand.
