PILOTLESS AIRCRAFT

ATTACKS AGAINST BRITAIN (Rec. 1.30 am.) LONDON. June 16. The Germans are using pilotless aircraft against Britain. Announcing this in the House of Commons, the Home Secretary, Mr Herbert Morrison, said it had been known I for some time that the enemy was preparing to use pilotless aircraft against this country. He had now started to use this much-vaunted new weapon. A small number of these missiles were used in raids on Tuesday morning, and a larger number were used last night and this morning. On the first occasion thev caused few casualties, but the atlack was light, and the damage on the whole was inconsiderable. Last night’s attack was more serious. “ I have not yet received full particulars of the casualties and damage,” said Mr Morrison, “nor the number of pilotless aircraft destroyed before they could explode. TSie enemy’s preparations have not passed unnoticed, and countermeasures have already been applied and will continue to be applied with full vigour.”
