HOCKEY UMPIRES

Mr H. Sew Hoy presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Hockey Umpires’ Association on Thursday evening. It was resblved to call the attention of the Men’s and Women’s Associations to various unsatisfactory features in the marking of the grounds, and in connection with the goal posts used in competition matches. The use of sticks with splinters was also reported, and it was resolved to pay particular attention to this matter. Entries for the New Zealand umpires’ theory examination, which close on June 21, have been invited. Mr T. H. Mulholland gave an informative lecture on “ First Aid on the Hockey Field.”
