UNITED NATIONS' DAY
OBSERVANCE IN BRITAIN MR CHURCHILL’S MESSAGE (Rec. 7 p.m.) RUGBY, June 14. To-day, June 14. was again observed in Britain as United Nations’ Day. The Prime Minister, Mr Churchill, gave the following message:—“On June 14 we honour the cause of the United Nations. This is the cause of good men throughout the world. It is a cause which inspires the energies and claims the loyalties of the greatest alliance history has ever assembled to do battle against the powers of evil. As we draw towards the final victory for which we are striving, let us emphasise the unity which alone can make it possible. Divided, we can await nothing but confusion and ruin. United, we have brighter hopes than have ever cheered mankind.” The Moscow radio states that the Soviet Government suggested to all State institutions that to-day they .should hoist the banner of the Soviet Union in honour of Britain, the United States, and the other United Nations.
The new Russian postage stamps issued in honour of the United Nations bear the flags of Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union, says Moscow radio.
