WOMEN IN WAR ZONES
REGARDED AS A NUISANCE AMERICAN OFFICER’S VIEWS (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 14. “Women are a nuisance in the war zones,” said Major Martin Rockmore, of the United States Marines, who has arrived on leave from the South Pacific. “The presence of women de* stroys the men’s privacy and puts annoying limitations on. their movemehts. Besides, officers are the only ones allowed to go out with them, and that does not help morale. When you have 30,000 troops and six women nurses come in you do not realise the troubles you are put to.”
