PACIFIC FORCES
LARGE DRAFT RETURNS MEN FOR ESSENTIAL WORK A large draft of men who have be&n brought back from the forward areas in the Pacific for direction into essential industry will arrive in Dunedin early this morning. A considerable number of them are from country districts, and these will no doubt be absorbed in primary production. All the men will be granted 28 days’ ■ leave with the usual privileges and will then be required to report to the man-power officer for direction.
According to information received from the local area headquarters last night, the train is due to arrive at 5.34 this morning. Between 50 and 60 men are to leave the train at Dunedin, while another 210 are to be taken on to stations further south. Arrangements were made yesterday to provide transport for the local and Central Otago members of the draft, and the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council has arranged to provide cups of tea for those men continuing the journey by train.
The following is the roll of men from Area XI included in the draft, exclusive of 47 who are to leave the train at stations in North Otago:— Fraser, Lieut. A. J., Sawyers’ Bay. Lawson, Lieut. R.
