AMERICAN DESERTERS
CONSTANT SEARCH IN DOMINION (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 13. A constant search is being maintained in New Zealand for deserters from the American forces. It is emphasised that any New Zealander who harbours such men is committing an offence which is punishable in the New Zealand courts-. Desertion is common to all nations at war, and it was only to be expected that some of the many Americans who have visited New Zealand in the past two years would fail to return to their ships or units when they were due to leave again.
