The total quantity of fruit received at Nelson district assembly depots up to the end of last week was 811,916 cases of apples and 49,715 cases of pears. In addition, it is estimated that there have been probably 90,000 cases of apples and pears disposed .of otherwise—to factories, for pulp, cider and juice, and by direct sales. The crop was not as clean and did not grade out as well as last season, there being a lower percentage of first-grade fruit.
