DAIRY COMPANY SECRETARIES
EMPLOYERS OPPOSE AWARD PROCEEDINGS
(PA.) AUCKLAND,' Apl. 4. An application by the Northern District Dairy Company Secretaries’ Union for recognition of an industrial award was opposed in the Arbitration Court to-day by Mr W. E. Anderson on behalf of the employers. In opposition to the award and in support of the existing system of a “ gentleman’s agreement,” Mr Anderson called a mirnbei of dairy company representatives. Thev said the secretaries were often called on lo represent the companies at conferences and in negotiating agreements wiih the employees. A secretary was an employer's man. The companies were r.ot opposed to the secretaries having a union, but they did object to them having an award. The court reserved it 3 decision.
