WEST HARBOUR
MEETING OF COUNCIL The monthly meeting of the West Harbour Borough Council was held last night, and was attended by the Mayor, Mr E. J. Taylor, and Crs L. F. Evans, F. Mitchell, G. Cook, F. H. Hudson, A. Robertson, P. H. Davis, W. J. Dyson, A. C. Deans, and H. F. Jeffreys. The financial statement for the year showed a credit balance of £1326 17s 6d. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £684 8s lid. The Dunedin City Corporation forwarded a schedule of the-apportionment of heavy traffic fees for the period ended 1943. West Harbour’s share, it was stated, was £B3 5s lid.—Received. The secretary of the Ravensbourne Returned Services’ Association wrote asking the council for the use of the hall to hold a service at 7 p.m. on Anzac Day. An Invitation was extended to councillors to be present—The use of the hall was granted. The secretary of the St. LeonardsBurkes Ratepayers and Householders’ Association, Mr A. M. O’Brien, wrote stating that at the annual general meeting of the association he was instructed to ask the council to erect pedestrian crossing posts and paint the roadway, and also to advise the foreman that a position had been chosen for the swing and that,his approval was awaited. The letter concluded by saying that the members desired to express their appreciation of the manner in which the council had carried out work at the request of the association. —Cr Evans moved that the association be thanked for its kind sentiments. He added that the improvements in the district were largely due to the efforts of Crs Davis and Deans.
