No Collection. “Bible Srutlt " FOR MANY DECEIVERS ARE ENTERED INTO THE WORLD WHO CONFESS NOT THAT JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH.” (2 John vii.) Before anyone can confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh he must understand what the Scriptures teach concerning “ the flesh.” Before the fall of man the flesh was “very good” (Gen. i, 31) but it is clear from the Scriptures that after the fall and as a result of the “ dying thou shalt die ” sentence (Gen. ii, 17) Adam was physically defiled—he no longer possessed a “ very good ” body but a vile body” (Phil, iii, 21), a “corruptible” body (1 Cor. xv, 53), a “body of sin” (Roms, vi, 6), even “flesh in which dwelleth no good thing ” (Roms, vii, 18), flesh that “ profiteth nothing" (John vi, 63). It is this “flesh" even “sinful hurhan nature ” (Roms, viii, 3, Weymouth) that is primarily THE DEVIL of the Bible (Heb. ii, 14). All the descendants of Adam inherit his defiled physical body (Roms, v. 12, John iii, 6, 1 Peter i, 4, Job xiv, 4) and as Jesus Christ was a descendant of Adam through Mary He likewise “ came in the flesh,” even that same defiled physical body as all other descendants of Adam (2 John vii, 1 John iv, 3. Roms, i, 3, Roms, viii, 3. Hebs. ii. 14-16, 2 Cor. v, 21). But though Jesus Christ possessed a "body like that of sinful human nature ” He personally “ did no sin.” His character was holy and unblemished (1 Peter ii, 22, 1 Peter i, 19). Yet “it pleased God to bruise Christ” (Isa. liii, 10) in order that God could declare His righteousness in the condemnation of sin in the flesh—it was as though it was proclaimed to all the world when Christ’s bodv was nailed to the cross: “This is how condom-,m human nature should be treated according to the righteousness of God; it is fit only for destruction ” (Roms, viii, 3, Roms. iii, 25). Thus, the Scriptures teach that through Christ’s death “the'devil,” i.e. His “ body of sin.” was destroyed (Hebs. n. 14) and the process of “ taking awav the sin of the world ” begun (John 1, Reader, you will realise that it Is of no value as a matter of words to confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh if you do not correctly understand Bible teaching concerning “ the flesh.” As a help to that end you should read—©FREE LITERATURE, BIBLE TRUTH.
