Mr H. M. Allan, the owner of Loyal King, is the new owner of Will Cary, who is now in S. T. Easton’s stable at Oamaru.

The Autumn Handicap, of £475, a 4piin 41sec class for trotters, to be run at the New Brighton meeting, attracted seven nominations. By way of contrast the Maiden Handicap, of £2OO, for a 3min ssec class, gathered 42 nominations. Efforts to cater for the trotter seem to fall flat.

Conditions governing the Brighton Maiden Handicap, to be run at Addington on February 19. decree that in the event of there being more than 17 horses accepted for, the starters will be balloted for. The nominations for this race number 42, all with the exception of Bay Acron 12 yards, and Netherby 24 yards, being on the limit. Aged horses were pot eligible for nomination. No fewer than 23 horsrs will have to be deleted from the field to bring it down to the number stipulated. The progeny of the stallion ‘Grattan Loyal had " a great innings ” over the Christmas and New Year meetings. From December 27 to January 3, horses, by Grattan Loyal won 11 races, were the same number of times in second-place, 13 times third, and also won money by being fourth 9 times. Altogether, they -were 44 times in the money and earned £6395. They won £2575 at the Canterbury Park meeting, £1875 at Auckland, £B7O at Ashburton, £645 at Westport, £230 at Gore, £125 at Wyndham, £3O at Invercargill, and £25 at Waikouaiti. Loyal Friend, Gold Bar, and Loyal Rey were his best stakeearners.
