MIDLAND LINE

AGAIN BLOCKED BY SLIP DOWNPOUR AT GREYMOUTH (P.A.) GREYMOUTH, Feb. 10. Torrenfial rain fell throughout yesterday and last night, making a total 'of 3.52 in for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. to-day. The Midland line was blocked again about 3.50 yesterday afternoon when there was a big slip at Rocky Point. Train services between Greymouth and Christchurch were cancelled last evening, and the express did not run from Greymouth this morning. This is the third successive week in which slips about the same point have caused a cancellation of the express time table. Work was commenced this morning when the easing of the rain gave hopes that the railway would be cleared by the evening.
