HARVEST LABOUR

Appreciative reference has been made bv several practical farmers to the splendid assistance given in the harvest field bv townspeople during last week-end. Reports indicate that this assistance has been a big help to farmers in their harvesting difiicullies. and that it has been really worth while. In one instance 60 acres of crop was cut before the stormy weather, and during the week-end the whole of it was stooked. The arrangements made proved very satisfactory, and the co-op-eration of the Oamaru Chamber of Commerce in this respect has been greatly appreciated. Farmers are urged to take advantage of this labour when it is available, and it is hoped that the townspeople will come forward in good numbers to assist in harvesting operations during the coming week-end.
