Five automatic false alarms were received by the Central Fire Brigade yesterday morning. The calls were from the City Corporation tramway sheds (twice), McLeod Brothers’ factory. Wardells, Ltd., and A. and T. Inglis. At 8.43 p.m. a chimney fire in Constitution street was attended. Two reasons why Kaitangata coal is the favourite are its great heat and its lasting qualities.—Advt.
