NATIONAL SAVINGS

INTENSIFIED CAMPAIGN Last week four towns in the Dunedin postal district obtained their national savings quotas, the successful places being Balclutha, Roxburgh, Tapanui, and Wanaka. With the aid of q diminishing surplus, the district itself maintained its unbroken run of 45 weekly quota successes since the commencement of the present financial year. The names of the towns which have done likewise are as follows:Dunedin, Balclutha, Clyde, Miller s Flat, Tapanui, Waikouaiti, and Wanaka. Mr D. C. Cameron, the Deputy Mayor, presided at a meeting of the Dunedin National War Savings Committee, held in the Dunedin Savings Bank on Tuesday morning, when ways and means of arresting the falling off in deposits to national war savings were considered. After discussion, the committee decided to aim at a “.target of £40,000 for the Dunedin city metropolitan area between now and the end of the present financial year. All group collectors and honorary organisers are to be called together in the near future while, in addition to circularising all local business houses, newspaper and radio advertising will be a feature of the campaign during the next few weeks.
