Gunner Frederick A. Hargreaves, who was killed in action in Italy. He was educated at the Macandrew Road School, and before going overseas was on the staff of Messrs Reid and Gray, Burnside. His wife resides in Oamaru, and his parents. Mr and Mrs A. Hargreaves, at Caversham.

Private Eric Robert Scott, who has been missing since August, 1942. The second son of Mr Robert Scott, of Lune street, Oamaru, he was educated at the Oamaru South and Wailaki Boys’ High Schools. He joined the army in 1937, and when war broke. out acted as an instructor in different North Island camps. He was

married in February, 1941. He left New Zealand as R.S.M. with the 7th Reinforcements. in September, 1941, and spent some time at a base camp, and then went to Syria. He was posted missing after a night patrol on the night of August 9, 1942, and since then he has not been reclassified. Shortly before he was posted missing he handed in his stripes voluntarily for personal reasons, and reverted to the rank of private. His wife and daughter reside at Maia.
