MR A. C. HANLON

PRIVATE FUNERAL YESTERDAY The funeral of Mr A. C. Hanlon, K.C., which was held privately yesterday afternoon, was attended by close friends of the family and members of the legal profession. Archdeacon L. G. Whitehead conducted the funeral service at the house and also at the graveside at the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery. The pall-bearers at the house were Messrs Jack Hanlon, W. S. Robertson, L. C. Hazlett, W. R. Hudson, W. D. McCarthy, and Professor T. D Adams, and those who performed a similar duty at the graveside were Messrs J. M. Paterson, C. J. L. White, J. S. Sinclair, Garth Gallaway, H. Dodgshun, and R. H. Bryant.’

Reference to the death of Mr Hanlon was made at the sitting of the Arbitration Court in Dunedin yesterday. Prior to the commencement of proceedings, Mr Justice Tyndall asked the members of the court and all present to stand as a token of respect to this distinguished member of the Bar. Mr J. P. Ward, as the only member of the Bar present at the opening of the court, acknowledged the courtesy which had been shown.
