NEW DEPUTY DIRECTOR (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 11. ’ The Minister of Health, Mr A. H. Nordmeyer, announced to-day the appointment of Dr T. R. Ritchie, of the Department of Health, to the position of Deputy Director-general of Health, in succession to the late Dr R. A. Shore. Dr Ritchie has been an officer of the department for nearly 28 years. In 1934 he was promoted to the position of director of the Division of Public Hygiene at the head office, and this post he held till he received his present promotion. The Minister also announced Di Ritchie’s present position as Director of the Division of Public Hygiene will be taken over by Dr F. S. Maclean, who, since 1941, has been responsible for the head office work pertaining to the administration of health benefits under the Social Security Act. Prior to his transfer to the head office in 1941 he was medical officer of health m Wellington for many years.
