THE RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE.—In this map the principal thrusts in the Soviet offensive are indicated by arrows. In the north, the Russians are approaching the Latvian border following the break-through at Neval Further south, the Red Army is reported to have crossed the 1939 Polish frontier from Olevsk and Novograd Volynsk. The fall of Berdichev and pressure in the Jmerinka area are increasing the threat to the German armies still fighting in the Dnieper bend.
