MODERN HEAVY BOMBERS
PRODUCTION IN AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE, Jan. 5. “Australia is now able to produce the most modern types of heavy bomber, fighter-bomber, and fighter aircraft,” said the Minister of Aircraft Production, Mr D. Cameron. “The deadly Beaufighter will shortly be rolling off the Australian production lines. Several other new types of aircraft are in varipus stages of production. These machines will give a terrible shock to the Japanese.” The Minister said that more than 2500 aircraft had been manufactured in Australia since the outbreak .of war, and production would be speeded up considerably during 1944. More than 30 per cent, of the employees in the Australian aircraft industry were women. s
