RUSSIA WARNS FINLAND
DELIBERATELY ENTERED WAR MOSCOW, Jan. 4. “The longer the Finns continue to fight on Hitler’s side the worse it will be for them at the peace table,” is the gist of a long leading article in the Russian newspaper Pravda, which accuses Finland of deliberately entering the war on Germany’s side, hoping permanently to weaken the Soviet Union and enlarge her territory at Russia’s expense. Russia has no designs on Finland’s independence, any more than she has on Poland’s, but future Finnish-Soviet frontiers must correspond with what Russia regards as the minimum for strategic safety.
