OCTAGON THEATRE

The musical comedy “ Song ot the Islands,” which features Betty Grable, Victor Mature and Jack Oakie, will commence a season at the Octagon Theatre to-morrow. Mature plays the part of a rancher’s son who is sent to a remote South Sea island to take charge of a cattle ranch. On the island live Miss Grable and her father (Thomas Mitchell), who are striving to keep the outpost unspoiled by the encroachments of civilisation. Romance, comedy, and excitement are provided in the following sequences, and a number of tuneful melodies, including “ Down in Ami, Ami, Oni, Oni Isle,” “O’Brien Has Gone Hawaiian,” and “Maluna, Malolo, Mawaena,” are presented. Also in the cast are George Barbier, as Mature’s father, Billy Gilbert, and Hilo Hattie. The picture is filmed in technicolor.
