NAVY LEAGUE SEA CADETS
The Otago Division of the Navy League Sea Cadet Corps began its summer training on Sunday with a full-day parade on the training ship Waireka. Instructional work was preceded by a parade from the city to Anderson’s Bay and back to the ship, where the activities consisted of boat pulling in the naval gig, classes in blocks and tackles, and a fine display of work by the signalling section. Week-end training will be carried out on the ship from now onwards. Two ex-members of the division are at present serving on a new minesweeper which was constructed at Port Chalmers, and it is expected that a number of cadets will be leaving shortly to take up naval service.
