CONCERT CHAMBER SING

The popularity of Mr Archie Jones as a singer was fully demonstrated by the audience in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Saturday night, when a community sing, interspered with variety items, was held, as a result of which a good contribution should be made to the fund for the purchase of Christmas parcels for soldiers. Mr Jones sang no fewer than 10 songs, in addition to which he assisted the leaders, Messrs R. McKenzie and Rae Marshall. Others who contributed to a well-varied programme were Mesdames Ncni Masters and Avis McFarlane, Misses Evelyn Bovett, Nancy and Norma Stewart, Norma Nicholls, Mavis Beissell, the pupils of Miss Laura Bain, Mr D. Christensen, and Piper J. McVean. The accompaniments were shared by Misses Myrie Hunt. Sybil Baker, and Joan Maxwell.
