CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP
RUSSIA FULLY INFORMED (N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent)
(Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 14. Attention on the meeting batween Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt has been temporarily side tracked by the discussion on the non-attendance of Marshal Stalin, tending to suggest that there is some misunderstanding or coldness between Russia, Britain, and the United States. It can be stated on reliable information that this is far from being a fact. On the contrary. Soviet, British, and American relationships are more cordial than ever before.
The plain fact is that Marshal Stalin has a major offensive on his hands and a winter campaign ahead. He is more than a figurehead, as marshal, frequently goes to the front line. There seems no doubt whatever that Mr Churchill and Marshal Stalin will meet round the same conference table as soon aS it is mutually convenient. Meanwhile, Marshal Stalin is being kept fully informed of the British and American discussions.
