COLLISION IN HARBOUR
FERRY STEAMER AND DREDGE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. Damage estimated at over £2OOO was done to the ferry steamer Ngoiro when it collided with the Auckland Harbour Board’s dredge Hapai in a fog bank on the harbour this morning. A steel plate in the dredge was holed, the nose of the ferry was shattered, and the deck-house was lifted. The damage in both cases was above the water line.
Only one passenger was on the ferry, which was travelling to an island/in the gulf. No one was injured. The dredge was moored for the night with a watchman on board.
