POLLING BOOTHS
ARRANGEMENTS FOR ELECTION DAY Arrangements for the staffing of the polling booths in Dunedin on election day have been completed, and approximately 550 persons have been engaged for the four districts. A number of these have previously been engaged during elections, and the staff will include a number of teachers, civil servants, retired persons, and members of the commercial community. Although in the past it has been the policy to confine the work to a male staff, owing to the absence of a considerable number of men employed ,in essential industries and on service overseas, women have been engaged as polling clerks on the present occasion. . Provision has been made in several districts for an increased number of polling booths, and this should minimise delay in voting and assist in having the returns completed.promptly. No material changes of polling places have been made, as the usual booths appear to suit the majority of people in the various localities.
