TRAINING OF WELDERS
It was stated yesterday by the Dominion organiser of trade training (Mr A. W. ' Nisbet) that classes for the trammg of welders would be inaugurated in Dunedin at an early date. The training will be carried out at the King Ef ward Technical College, which, Mr Nisbet stated, is admirably suited for the Applications will be received by the district man-power officer (Mr E. A Selman) from men ineligible for military service or from discharged soldiers who may desire to undertake such training. Considerable success had been achieved with similar , training centres in the North Island, Mr Nisbet added, and more than 20 men had. passed out from the Government training centre for welders which was established recently in Auckland. AH these men had passed the Marine Department’s test, and they were now employed on urgent ship work relating to the war effort.
