POSSIBILITIES IN EUROPE (Rec. 7 p.m.) , RUGBY, Aug. 11. “The’military possibilities in Europe for the rest of this year,” and “AngloAmerican political strategy in the light of military decisions,” wifi be examined by Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt in Quebec. They will meet at the Citadel, where President Roosevelt will stay. An official statement, quoted by agencies in Canada, is as follows:—“ Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt will examine the final reports from' the chiefs of staff on the military possibilities in Europe for the rest of this year, and they will ; survey political questions arising from the victories in Russia and Italy, and unify AngloAmerican political strategy in the light of military decisions.” A joint session of the British and Canadian- War Cabinets was held in Quebec to-day, states a further* message. The meeting lasted nearly three hours, after which Mr Churchill, the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr W. L. Mackenzie King, issued the following joint statement:—“A joint session ofthe War Cabinet of the .British Government in - Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the' War Committee of the Cabinet of' the Canadian Government was held this morning, at which the British War Cabinet was represented by Mr Churchill and Sir John Anderson.”
“We want Mr Churchill,” cried crowds in Quebec city, ■ according to another message,' as word spread that the Prime Minister was about to leave the Canadian Cabinet War Committee meeting in the Chateau Frontenac. Mr Churchill stopped to sign autographs, and appeared to be in gay and confident spirits.
