WOMEN AS TAXI DRIVERS
OPPOSITION IN AUSTRALIA (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 12. It was stated at a meeting of the taxidriver members of the Road Transport Workers’ Union that taxi-driving was not suitable work for women. The speakers said that during the past two months 23 drivers had been “ bashed ” in Sydney. Their attackers had been mostly drunken civilians and servicemen. A resolution was carried opposing the proposed employment of women drivers.
