WOMAN’S DEATH
KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAIN Mrs Agnes Elizabeth Lemm, a married woman. 51 years of age, a resident of Owaka, died in the Owaka Hospital at 2.40 p.m. yesterday as the result of injuries to her head received when she was knocked down by the Bal-clutha-Tahakopa train about half an hour previously. The accident occurred at the crossing in the main road in Owaka. a short distance from the railway station. It is believed that Mrs Lemm, who had been shopping, was not aware of the approach of the train, ancl.it is surmised that she walked into the first carriage. She was immediately conveyed to the hospital. , An inquest was opened last evening before Mr William Roy, sittipg as coroner. After evidence of identification had been given, the inquiry, which was conducted by Constable Myers, was adjourned sine die.
