MR ENDEAN RETURNS
QUESTION OF CANDIDATURE
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 12. The sitting National Party member for Remuera. Mr W. P. Endean, M.P., returned to Auckland to-day after visiting Britain and Canada as one of New Zealand’s two delegates to the Empire Parliamentary Association’s conference in Britain. During Mr Endean’s absence, Mr R. M. Algie was selected as the official National Party candidate for, Remuera. Mr Algie later s'tated that he would submit his name with that of Mr Endean to a ballot of party members in the eiectorate, if Mr Endean wished to do so. Mr Endean said after his arrival that he had not yet had time to consider his position, and was unaware of much that had happened during his absence. As •soon as he could he would announce his intentions.
Both Mr Endean and Mr L. G. Lowry, Government member for Otaki, who was the other delegate to the conference, said they knew so little of what had been happening in New Zealand since their departure four and a-half months ago that they were not even aware of the date of the election
Mr Lowry left by to-night’s limited for the south. Mr Endean remained in Auckland. ’ ■
