THE HEALTH CAMPAIGN
Sir,— Regarding the health campagin which is to be launched, as far as diet and nutrition are concerned ' common sense feeding habits are all that are necessary in this land of abundance, plus an extra spurt of energy, to feed our small population. The variety of necessary items to ensure good health—milk, butter, eggs, wholemeal, oats, fish, meat, cheese, fruit, root and green vegetables, honey,
malt or sugar—most of us Include In the daily diet, and a full supply of these should be maintained for the efficiency of the worker. Diet, however, is only a contributory factor towards a health campaign. Especially so is this in persons up to the age of 21 years, the years of. growth, and those with any authority over our youth must exercise understanding, sympathy, patience, and tolerance. Insufficient mental relaxation is the first item that should be dealt with by the organisers of the health campaign. The years from 16 to 21 are very important years of development, in which continuous, unnecessarily severe mental excesses are detrimental and should not be allowed to encroach upon the time which Nature intended for relaxation of mind, rest of body, and the joy of living. —I am, etc., Llve -
