THE NEED IN CHINA
Sir,—How many of us know that starvation among the • civilians in China has reached terrible heights, and that now over half of them are dying? Their former food supply sources are not available, and what little they now grow is seriously affected by a drought. How many of us people, who lack nothing, care? As church-going Christians, we feel very satisfied with our doings; but here is a chance to prove our valour for God’s rule, of brother's keeper, by facing up to this call. New Zealand can produce tremendous ouantities of food. Therefore, let us abandon our narrow distractions —races, elections, etc.—and commence right here and now on an errand of mercy in providing our absolute maximum in whatever foods we can for China. Let us get together, all in, politics aside, and do it now. We will never regret complying with God’s Word. Who is interested?—l am, etc., Sincerity. Dunedin, August 8.
