KNOX CHURCH

annual meeting The need for greater interest in youth work, which constituted a vital part of church activity, was emphasised by Miss V M. Barron when moving the adoption of the reports of the Kirk Session and Deacons’ Court at the annual meeting of the Knox Church congregation last night. To many children who did not attend Sunday schools and services, a church was just a building, she said. If they found there was a congregation waiting to welcome them, these children would feel that they had become members of a large family. If the spirit of the past could be captured and people could look ahead there was a wonderful future in church work. Increased attention, however, should be given to young people and to parents bringing up children. Thd adoption of the reports was seconded by Mr G. M. Luke. The Rev. D. C. Herron, minister of the church, who presided, said that in spite of the fact that many helpers were carrying out double duties, a year of excellent results had been 'achieved. He congratulated the congregation on the circumstance that in the past 13 years over £20,000 had been raised for outside work, such as missions. This averaged £I6OO a year. In conclusion, Mr Herron stressed the fact that greater loyalty to the churches was needed. Other Speakers were the general treasurer, Mr D. R. Wilson, and the session clerk, Mr D. Standage. Vocal items were given by Miss Jones and by Mr L. Jones, and supper was later served by the ladies. ■
