NUREMBERG BOMBED

NAZI PARTY SHRINE RAID IN GREAf STRENGTH (Rec. 11.50 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 11. The R.A.F. switched its attack to Southern Germany last night, when a large force of aircraft bombed targets at Nuremberg. The raid is officially described as very heavy. Nuremberg has been called the shrine of the Nazi Party and it was there in peace-time that Hitler staged many of his spectacular rallies. It is an important industrial city, producing tanks, Diesel engines, armoured cars, and other armaments. It is also the centre of a great network of railways, being the junction of six main lines from all parts of Germany. The last attack on Nuremberg was made about five months ago when important electrical works were badly damaged. The raid last night cost the R.A.F. 16 bombers. Three German night fighters were shot down during the operations.
