LAWRENCE
Sale Yards Company.—The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Lawrence Sale Yards Company, Ltd., was held on Friday. There were present Messrs W. F. Labes (chairman), D. Cumming, R. E. Thompson, M. Girvan, and W. Varcoe. The chairman reported that four sales were held during the year, and the company made a profit of £ll 9s. The directors had no recommendations to make in regard to placing any sum in a reserve fund or for the payment of a dividend. The report was approved. Mr J. M. A. McKeefry was elected auditor. The two retiring directors, Messrs M. J. Fahey and W. F. Labes, were re-elected, and Mr Labes was .re-elected chairman. Red Cross .Sub-centre. —Mrs W. Duthie, vice-president, presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Lawrence Sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. It was decided to give £5 to the China Red Cross Society and £5 to the Turkish earthquake relief fund. The written first aid examination for the local V.A.’s will be held to-morrow and on Saturday afternoon Dr Chapman will conduct the practical and oral examinations.
