TROUT OVA
The stripping operations for trout ova, which are being conducted by the Otago Acclimatisation Society at Lake Hayes and on the Leith Stream, are nearing completion. Fair supplies have been secured from both places, although the arduous winter in Central Otago hampered the work at Lake Hayes, from which the' yield was not so great as was expected. Some 640,000 eggs were secured from Lake Hayes, but an estimate of the figures in regard to the Leith Stream has not yet been completed.' The ova nave been sent to the Waitati Hatcheries, and after orders have been filled the society will liberate the remainder in various streams, dams, and lagoons in Otago.
