KHARKOV IN DANGER
(United Press Association) (Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Rec. 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 10. The Russians have launched a third big push, this time in the Vyazma area. A German military commentator calls it a gigantic main battle located in the Dorogobuzh- * Demensk area. The Germans are rushing up reinforcements in transport planes, and have already transported 81,000 soldiers and several tons of war material. The Paris radio says that the Russians in the Vyazma area have thrown in nine infantry divisions arid three tank brigades, supported by the air force. According to the Oslo radio, the Russians yesterday made 12 successive attacks on a single sector of the Vyazma front, each with a battalion. The Berlin radio claims that all the attacks were halted outside the main German defence line. The Russian advance on Kharkov has all the signs of a major break-through, says the Moscow correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph. The Germans, deprived of a large number of their communications, are being harassed by the Russian Air Force, which is dominating the skies in spite of the Luftwaffe’s intensified efforts. There are even here and there signs of demoralisation among the enemy officers and men. The correspondent of the British United Press in Moscow says that unbroken progress is reported on all the sectors north of Kharkov, and large numbers of prisoners are pouring in. Dozens of towns and villages are falling into the Russians’ hands daily.
