The Auckland Electric Power Board at a meeting on Monday received notice from its solicitors. that Messrs John Burns and Co., Ltd., had withdrawn its claim against the board for £224,000 and had paid the costs. A writ claiming £224,000 against the Power Board was issued last February by John Burns and Co., claiming the amount for damage to its building and stock by the fire on August 19, 1941. The ground of the action was alleged negligence on the part of the Power Board.
