SUPPLIES FROM OVERSEAS
“ Supply conditions overseas are changing rapidly,” said Mr I. Matheson in an address at a conference in Wellington last week of garment manufacturers’ delegates from the Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Dunedin Manufacturers’ Associations. Mr Matheson, who recently returned from a textile mission to the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States, said that the production, distribution, and use of essential materials were to a great extent planned and controlled on forward programmes. Changing conditions, however, often made it necessary for sudden alterations to be made. Mr Matheson added that he found overseas a spirit of helpfulness and a real desire to meet New Zealand’s requirements.
