THE ITALIAN MAINLAND
BOMBING RAIDS RESUMED (Rep. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 8. Italy’s three greatest industrial centres —Milan, Turin, and Genoa—were bombed last night by strong forces of Lancasters, which flew right across Europe to deliver a concentrated attack. Visibility was excellent over the targets, and first reports indicate that the bombing results were good. The last raid on Italy by home-based bombers of the R.A.F. was on July 24, when Lancasters, returning to Britain from North Africa, bombed Leghorn.
