OTAGO RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMIITTEE A meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union was held last night. The president (Mr W. J. Pearson) occupied the chair. The following dates for school matches were approved: July 21, Christian Brothers’ High School v. St. Kevin's College, at Carisbrook, and Otago Boys' High School v. Timaru Boys’ High School, at Littlebourne; July 28, King’s High School v. Southland Boys’ High School, and King’s High School second fifteen v. South Otago High School, at Carisbrook; August 20, Otago Boys’ High School v. Christchurch Boys’ High School, at Dunedin. King’s High School was granted permission to send a junior team to play the Palmerston District High School, at Palmerston, on July 21, and to play a return match at Dunedin, on July 31. The Training College Club was granted permission to play a match against the Christchurch Training College, at Christchurch, on July 19. It was decided to play a Third Grade match between Pirates and Southern as a curtain-raiser to the Otago-Southland match on July 31. Permission was granted for matches on the same date between the Dunedin and Marist (Invercargill) Fourth Grade teams, at the Caledonian Ground, and between the Kaikorai and Pirates (Invercargill) Fourth Grade teams, at Bathgate Park. Mr H. G. Munro was appointed manager and coach of the Otago team to play Canterbury at Christchurch on July 24. Discussion took place on the danger of players being allowed to remain on the field after receiving head injuries, and it was decided to instruct the Referees’ Association that no player should be permitted to continue after he had received such an injury.
